The melting process of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT)/poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) blends has been studied by DSC. It has been found that components in the blends prepared by codissolution-coprecipitation crystallize separately
and the existence of PET suppresses the crystaliization of PBT. On the other hand
the melting behavior of blends made by melting mixture varies
changing from two melting peaks to one melting peak with increase of mixing time
which is ascribed to the ester exchange during mixing
