Vapor liquid equilibrium data were determined in an Ellis still at 99 992 kPa for 2 butanone+ethyl benzene
2 butanone+ o xylene
2 butanone+ m xylene and 2 butanone+ p xylene
respectively A thermodynamic model proposed by Hayden O’connell for accounting the nonideal behavior of the vapor phase and liquid phase was used for calculating the activity coefficient of liquid phase All the experimental data have been tested by the method proposed by Herington and the results show that the experimental data conform to the demand of thermodynamic consistency Wilson equation was selected to correct composition and component’s activity coefficient of the liquid phase The calculated values of the vapor composition are in good agreement with experimental data
