Progress in research on atmospheric pollution coefficient in China is reviewed in this paper. Research on atmospheric pollution coefficient in China can be classified into three stages: (1) The atmpspheric pollution coefficient formula was improved

considering effect of calm wind;(2) Based on analysis of relationship between wind speed and air pollutant concentration

the new atmospheric pollution coefficient formula was proposed

by using one-time monitoring wind speed instead of mean wind speed in calculation of atmospheric pollution coefficient; (3) Considering the comprehesive effect of wind speed

wind direction

and height of mixing layer

the expression of atmospheric pollution coefficient applied to regional

multi-source air pollution influence analysis was introduced. The expression of atmospheric pollution coefficient

considering the comprehensive effect of wind speed

wind direction

and height of mixing layer

is analysed in this paper. At last

the application of atmospheric pollution coefficient is discussed.
