Electroreduction of Samarium ion on the Fe Cathode in Molten Chlorides
Linear sweep voltemmetry has been used to study the electrochemical reac tion of Sin(Ⅲ) in molten equimolar NaCl-KCl on the Fe cathode. The results suggest that Sin(Ⅲ) ions is reduced to Sm(Ⅱ) on Fe electrode at the first step
subsequently reduced to Sin(O) and formed alloy with Fe on Fe electrode surface. The diffusion coefficients and diffusion activation energy of Sin(Ⅲ) in molten chlorides had been determined.
