摘要:Observational data of atmospheric boundary layer and air pollutant concentration in the Pearl River Delta in October, 2004, were used to analyze the effect of sea breeze on air pollution in cities. Results showed that sea breeze restrained the transportation of air pollutants to the downwind in autumn.It slowed down the transportation of air pollutants to the downwind or caused the temporary accumulation of air pollutants in the city clusters.The concentration of air pollutants in the city clusters increased obviously with the appearence of sea breeze.The mean and the maximum concentrations of air pollutants in the city clusters on sea breeze days increased to two to four times in comparison with nosea breeze days. Sea breeze reduced the concentration of air pollutants in the Mouth of the Pearl River.
